The Bike

According to the H-C Travel blurb we could choose 'any 2012 model Harley-Davidson', or alternatively a Honda or BMW by special arrangement - but why would I not choose a HD to ride this iconic road?

The big question was, which model Harley?

My criteria was:
  • Saddle height - must be suitable for 29 inch legs!
  • Pillion comfort - a lot of the Harley range are designed for solo riding so that fact eliminated a lot of the choices.
So it was looking that the most likely candidate would be the 'Heritage Softail' with a decent size pillion seat, and a pillion back rest, and with soft saddle bags as standard - to accomodate our on-the-ride bits and pieces.
